This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.
Oh, it's still dark outside, more driving rain and windy.
I'm leaving here shortly, need to be at the body shop for about 9.30.
Hope all's well. I wish you all a happy Thursday.0 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy but cool here, temperature really dropped overnight.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit, hel'll catch a lift with me and go to the gym.
Dinner last night was pork loins, mash, veg and gravy, some LO's from Sunday's roast were used up also. Tonight we'll be having fish, the menfolk are having salmon en croute, new potatoes and peas, I'll have baked fish, new potatoes and veg.
Yesterday work was a strange one, very quiet to start off, then went completely manic, several difficult cases but we got there in the end. Stopped off on the way home from work to pick up fresh milk, SM was like a ghost town and I mentioned to the cashier that we'd been very quiet or very busy and she said they had been exactly the same - how strange.
I'm now on days' off but need to do loads, so will just get stuck in and get as much done as possible.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Early start for you Gers, hope you get your new body!
Really windy here at the moment, more rain due. I think that's it for the washing going outside this year.
Hope your back is easing RR.
Not much to report here, work goes on! Take care. XX0 -
Morning Gers and all
Hope you had a safe drive thats one heck of an early visit to the garage
Holly hope you got a bit more sleep at your brothers and good luck for today will be thinking about you
Sky looks lovely again this morning and hoping it will be another warm sunny day like yesterday. I watered the baskets this morning but they are on their last legs now could put some winter stuff in there but my motivation to water will rapidly disappear as the winter sets in. Does anyone else keep winter pots at all?
Well yesterdays shopping trip did work but only after a really childish toddler like tantrum when we got to Morrisons. She was just one step short of lying on the floor screaming and doing the dying fly...pretty pathetic. Anyway as recommended I stood firm and it was either do it or don't shop. All in all it went fine in the end and I got some work done in the cafe till it came to the checkout which she refused to do on her own ..fair enough still was a lot less stressful for me. So thank you again for the idea Gers :A
One of those bits and pieces days today so I need to start with a to do list then actually do it.
Have a good day all if possible0 -

Good morning everyone and a beautiful morning it is here in Kent with blue sky and the sun is up already.
I had a busy running around day yesterday getting odds and ends for my DGS Jacks departure to Uni this Sunday
In the afternoon I had the U3A monthly meeting which was very nice and lots of tea and chat as well:) one of our members brought in two large baskets of surplus stuff from their allotment so we all had a 'help yourself to what you fancy' I had some rhubarb which I cooked in honey last night and will have for pudding tonight. and some different coloured tomatoes I tried the yellow ones with my salad last night and they were delicious ,felt a bit odd at first eating bright yellow ones but they were very nice and quite sweet.
Then just as I was almost home jack messaged me to say he had forgotten about the frying pan so off I shot to the big tescos and got him one .I also had a walk around there as I had not been in for awhile having changed to Aldi's for my main shopping and was surprised at how everything seems to have almost doubled in price in the past three months . I definitely won't be using them very often thats for sure .
By the way I noticed that they seem to sell a lot of 'Creamfields 'products, is that not sold in Lidls as well ? or one of the other supermarkets .They didn't seem to have many of their old basic value stuff anymore ,but then I have not been in a Tesco's for over three months But his frying pan was a reasonable price at £9.00 so that came out of my Happy Cash StashI also sellotaped his name to the handle and wrote on the bottom with a sharpie as it hopefully won't go walkabout as his brother Bens did when he was in Halls:)
Nelski well done on standing firm and getting some respite in the cafe.
Mrs TA its so hard when he keeps getting these blooming infections but at least you know he is happier at home and its good you have a support system you can call on.
HollyHarvey good luck today with your appointments I shall be thinking of you .
I hope everyone has a good day ,another week has almost whizzed by again. My DD has her scan on her foot tomorrow and I will take her to the hospital and wait outside as she hates anyone with her when she goes in to have anything like that done Unlike my youngest who wouldn't set foot anywhere without me being there. They are both lovely lasses but so differentI don't mind I shall read my book while I wait then drop her back to work afterwards.
Did anyone see 'Shop Well for Less' last night I caught a bit of it and nearly fell off my chair at anyone paying £120 for a kettle !!!:):)I would want someone to serve it to me ready made for that price:)
Right my kettle is calling me and it cost me £19.99 but does what its meant to, boils the water for my cuppa:)
Have a good day chums

After yesterday's 'busy-busy day', today is going to feel 'quite sedate' ..................... only got to go and sit with DGS1 (17 - ADHD/ASD etc) to supervise him. We're definitely going to HAVE to find things to keep us both occupied, as this is going to be 2days a week 'for the foreseeable'. I KNOW that he enjoys cooking/baking, so perhaps that's something that we can do together ..................... prepare the family evening meal, to save his mum having to start cooking when she gets back home again :j!0

Good morning everyone.
Very dull and grey skies in Glasgow.
Yesterday after work I played football, done all my ironing and watched the GBBO.
No gym this morning and TGFW coming over later. Well I'm actually going to pick her up from an event later, so I've much of the night to myself. Omelette for dinner.
Have a good day everyone0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Thoughts with the TA's.
I heard from the SS yesterday. They are going to charge us £70+ for OH's continuing care. He gets £50 a week from Attendance Allowance and it looks like we are going to have to pay out £80+ a month to top this up. To say I am not happy is putting it mildly. I am waiting for a letter to come from the council to see exactly how they have come to this decision. I am now wondering what will happen with his Attendance Allowance........if its put up it will not be a problem but the extra we will have to pay is almost as much as our grocery bill each month.
Going to make tea and shuffle off into a corner.........0
