Unable to take the prize so...

they offered me a consolation prize instead.:j

I won a First Post prize to go to Brixham in Devon for the Dartmouth Cup Barbecue with the Fishworks restaurant group. I was unable to get the time off work and the PR company said they'd see what they could do.

I thought they were just being nice and forgot about it, but a couple of weeks later I got an email offering me a meal for two in any Fishworks restaurant.

I have been tonight and we enjoyed champagne, fabulous food, outstanding service, and they even tried to return our tip since we weren't supposed to pay for anything!

I can confess that I'm not even a big fan of fish but I can recommend Fishworks to anyone, which I guess is why they run the comps!!!

It was just so lovely to get offered something although we weren't able to accept the prize advertised.

Yes! I went to the one in Parsons Green but they have them in Chelsea, Richmond, Chiswick and somewhere near Notting Hill but I forget where exactly. I'm sure I sound like a plant but I eat out a lot and it really was excellent. I think they have others elsewhere in the country but I'm only aware of the ones in SW London.

What a fab story - it's great when you win a prize & thoroughly enjoy yourself into the bargain! Congrats, I don't think you are a plant, just a happy comper who wants to do what the comps are designed to do - spread the word about different service providers.

Nice one! I'll have a google around & see if I can find out if there are any near me :) Thanks!

    Edit: Fishworks
what's even better is the guy on the front page is called Mitch Tonks which was a favourite character of mine in Harry Potter :D They have 12 restaurants
