False mistaken identity claim on car insurance
Comments

Sounds like your insurer is almost colluding with the other driver to push up your premiums, in view of no damage to your car.
Don't fail to disclose this to other insurers, as that might work out really expensive.
I think there has to be a clone of your car somewhere. Not sure how to solve this.0 -

It will do. All you have to do is type a registration into MID and it tells you the make & model, type it into the dot gov tax checker and it tells you the colour.
So if you make a typo on the reg you get the wrong car.
Pretty much all cars look the same now, and they are either white black or gunmetal, so there is still a reasonable chance it is a typo, especially as a dealer would have a block of registrations, which would all go on the same make, if not model and colour.
Doesn't rule out a clone, for much the same reasons, you can get your clone reg by trial & error changing 1 character of yours, or swapping two round, then if anyone finds out
"I can't believe it! They must have made up the wrong plate, and I've never noticed that they swapped the F and the E"......I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Thanks all for the responses. It took 11 months to drop the claim. It was proved as a mistaken identity case and nothing was paid out from my policy. I couldn't help the hike in premium but Admiral is not refunding the hike giving all irrelevant reasons. They have released my no claims bonus once the claim was dropped. Have to see how my next premium gets affected.5

That sucks, many years ago I had an accident which the other party inflated the claim and claimed my fault. After a faff they didn’t present the vehicle for examination to validate their claim and my car only had a scratch which I wasn’t bothered about so my insurer ,direct line, cancelled the claim reinstated my NCD and refunded the increase in premium from when I had renewed in the interim.
another reason not to insure with admiral0 -

Definitely complain and FOS, you should get a refund accounting for your restored NCD and not having an accident on your file. They are trying to blag you.0
