there are 2 types of JSA
1) Contribution based if you have paid sufficient class 1 NI from employment in the previous 2 tax years...this lasts 6 months
2) Income based, if you don't qualify for contribution based. This is based on household circumstances and your partner working full time will mean no payment
A lot of Christmas jobs are advertised now - Royal Mail, retail etc0 -
Put your details into the benefit calculator here:

to see if you are eligible for tax credits or universal credit (if you are in a full service area)0 -
Sorry im confused how are you both self-employed and unemployed?HI I have been unemployed since June 2018 ..went to the jobcenter to see what we could claim and was told that because my partner was in full time employment earning £230.00 a week after tax and I was self employed and only paid class2 contributions we was not allowed anything ..It has been 3 months now of struggle after struggle .We are now probably going to lose our house (mortgaged) and I have no idea what I can do ..is this correct what the jobcenter told me ?????
And similarly, what luck have you had in finding employment?
£230 a week isn't really anything fantastic. infact it's around the tax credits benchmark0 -
So you have been unemployed since June - went to the job centre to claim and was told no as your partner was working and you have only paid class 2
So going off this you can't claim JSA contribution based
Most Self employed people should have a contingency fund for no work etc or at least you should have mortgage payment insurance in place for situations like this
When told this by the JCP - in June I assume, why did you not find a job then if you are struggling“You’re only here for a short visit.

sorry ..I am the 1 unemployed and my partner is employed and I have tried everyday to send off for at least 20+ jobs I hope age hasnt anything to do with it (55) but truthfully recieved no interviews as yet0

It possibly isn't your age
Could it be your skill set or your CV
Try voluntary work to get up to date references and learn other skills you can use
Register with an agency - if not already done - as they will help with the CV and job hunting
As posted by Caz try The Royal Mail or Argos as they recruit more at Xmas
Good luck anyway and I hope my post hasn't offended you“You’re only here for a short visit.

If I can make a suggestion - if you've applied for more than 1,000 jobs and haven't got an interview, its not age but your expectations.
Speak to recruitment agencies and see if they can help0 -

I think anyone with a mortgage should have some kind of insurance to cover repayments when needed unless they can't get insurance for some reason. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
Can you not continue your self employment until you find another job?0
