Intermittent problem with sound on new laptop

I got a new Dell laptop 2 weeks ago and have an ongoing issue when I try to play videos - iPlayer, YouTube, Facebook, all of them. Some days, there's audio and some days there is only silence. Video is fine.



Does anyone know what might be going on?


Am I going to have to send it back? :sad:

What happens when you right click on the sound icon on the task bar ?

It gives me options such as opening up settings for Sound - which all look like it should be working. There's a sound bar there that's moving and looks like there's sound being received by the laptop. (Does that help?)

Ha! now it's working - just changed one of the settings. Don't understand why it was working yesterday and not today (on the same settings - unless I changed it accidentally?)
