Old Style Daily Wednesday 12th September 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

  • Morning everyone

Nothing much happening during the day today, so I’m not sure what I will get up to. I have a delivery due sometime between 9.00 and 10.00am. I do like delivery companies who text you the one hour time slot for delivery, and even better when it is the night before delivery.

While I am waiting for that I will get the housework done, and then decide what I want to do with the rest of the day when they have been.

I’m going to spend the night at my brother’s house tonight as he is coming to a couple of appointments with me tomorrow and one of them is quite early.

RR I hope that your back is a bit better today.

    Thinking of the TAs.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.
  • Morning all, thank you for the thread Hollyharvey.

Another very patchy night due to a strange nightmare, which is still creating a cloud of dread even though I woke, went to the loo and went back to sleep, well dozed off and on.

No specific plans today, I have done mountains of washing and have more to do so would tackle that but it isn't a good drying day (according to the weatherman) and there isn't room for any more drying indoors so I'll have to wait.

Redruby, hope your back feels a bit better today and I'm thinking if all those who are unwell, caring for others or worried.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning All

It's certainly colder today, just been out to the bins and there's a definite nip in the air. Still showery so the washing can stay inside today.

Hope your back is feeling better RR.
Enjoy your night at your DBs Holly.
    Hugs to the TAs.

I had a much needed haircut yesterday then called at Waitrose on the way home, it's such a calm shop I may go more often but it's a bit out of the way unless I'm at the hairdressers.

Meeting a work colleague after work for something to eat, she's leaving on Friday and I'll miss her (and her laugh!).

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX
  • Morning folks. I am still with you, lurking in the background and reading your posts when I can.

Mr TA was really unwell over the weekend, more tired than normal and no interest in his nutritional drinks etc. I wondered if it was the steroids not agreeing with him and vowed to ring the hospice for advice Monday morning. Monday morning he was really confused and a high temp. Another bl''dy infection had clobbered him but with different symptoms this time. The hospice arranged for a community nurse to come for a sample and also a doctor to visit. He agreed no more hospital admissions and we would try and treat the infection at home with a high dose a/b. He has spent the last 2 days in bed but this morning he says he feels a bit better and wants to get up today. He really could do with a shower but we might settle on another bed bath. Will see how it goes.

We lurch from one problem to another but I am happier knowing there is support there for when I think I need it. And a dedicated number to ring for advice if I am worried about something.

Thinking of others with problems of their own or worried about others. POPPY positive vibes for you. Take care all xx

    Good morning everyone.

Despite a very pinky red sky yesterday evening the rain is again battering my place and the wind is high.

My drive down the peninsula was mostly lovely although short sharp burst of torrential rain made driving interesting. My colleague was really helpful so I'm much happier about using one particular piece of online technology.

Today I'm teaching first thing but will be home by 11.30. Washing machine is chugging away and food for the day prepped.

Camelot - I hope you feel better this morning. Redruby - you too, and of course thoughts to the TAs.

I need to gird my loins to face the weather. :rotfl: Happy Wednesday to all.

    Morning everyone

Thinking of the TA's - good to know you have support as and when needed, utilize that as much as you need x

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast again this morning, wet underfoot, but not raining at the moment.

DH up and gone to work, as has DS1, DS2 now on his way out the door and going for a run. He'll then catch a lift with me when I go to work, he'll go onto the gym.

Dinner last night was disjointed, DS1 went to watch our local team play football, so he sorted his own food, DH and DS2 had chicken and HM egg and veg fried rice, I went to fat club, stayed the same. I heated up a diet ready meal of chicken tikka masala and rice was ok. I remembered to get the pork loins out to defrost, so tonight we'll have pork, mash, veg and gravy.

Last full working day this week for me, it's been an odd week, either very busy or dead, we'll see what today brings, not doing my usual Wednesday job as we have 2 people on annual leave so we'll see how it goes. I'm back into work on Saturday morning, and full 3 days next week then off on our hols Friday morning - can't wait.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Holly, enjoy your evening

LameWolf, RR and Camelot hope you are feeling better

Poppy and the TA's my thoughts are with you

Dark and raining this morning after such a beautiful day yesterday. Managed quite a bit of clearing up in the garden.

The plan was to do some shopping and have a coffee but DH seems to be getting slower and we'll get soaked so maybe change of plan.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning all

Its a bit miserable here today dark and gloomy and very windy, looks like a real winters day out there, my dd is in Rome with 32deg sunshine atm lucky thing.

My back I still very sore I had to get out of bed this morning as it was uncomfortable laying there, I just cant seem to get comfy anywhere, hopefully another day of rest will help me out a bit more.

Dinner tonight is some flavoured pork belly strips with rice and peas and baby corn.

Rubbish and recycling and garden waste to go out today OH will do that before he goes to work.

TA nice to see you posting and sending hugs to you and OH xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good Morning, good people

Mrs TA - sorry to read about your OH's problems over the weekend - these sudden infections can take you by such a surprise absolutely 'out of nowhere'. ((((BIG HUGS)))) for you and Mr TA. As others have said, make sure you take all opportunities for assistance :).

Also thinking of anybody else who needs prayers and support right now.

Up reasonably early for me today - need to get ready to go out for the day. 'Nathan sitting' (DS1 age 17) to keep him out of too much mischief/danger. His ADHD/ASD/ADD etc involves him acting very impulsively - likely to 'fiddle' with engines or things 'mechanical' - or 'sell things' via schpock and other online sites for quick cash .................... doesn't only sell his own stuff though .

Before that though, I need to go back to the Hospital for a wound check on my leg - 11wks nowl. Luckily Hosp and DD's house are in the same direction/on same bus route :j. Also need to take 'raised toilet seat' back to DD's - or I can't go to the loo in her house .............

Pizza (from freezer) for evening meal for us tonight - basic ones with one GF (for me), so will need to 'tart them up a bit' before putting into the oven ;)!

Bible Study Group at church this evening - first one for a couple of months as we don't meet during July/August. It's a small but supportive group and I've missed it - like a breath of fresh air during a hectic life :T.

Will need to watch Emmerdale/Corrie on 'catch-up' when I get back home.

More 'Nathan-sitting' again tomorrow .................... oh, what joy ;) :j!!!

    Morning :)

TA Thank you for the update sorry to hear Mr TA has had another infection. Hopefully today will be a little better if he can get up.

redruby dont rush it another day of rest is essential.

Holly Take it easy today you have a busy week ahead :A

Went out with my bestie yesterday which started well with lots of giggles then she dropped the bombshell that her husband had asked for a divorce last night (their wedding anniversary  ) She is so shocked and understandably devastated this has come totally out of the blue. They have 2 teenagers at a very difficult age so telling them will be another awful stage for her. Its amazing how quickly I went from the start thinking they were such a advert worthy perfect family to using more expletives about him than i have used in any one conversation for a long time.

The lunch despite the news was good though I had a cod goujon bloomer butty with chips and my friend had veggie fish and chips made with halloumi. Glad the pub has redeemed itself.

Out again today but this time with mother. Going to try the new shopping concept but lets just say I'm not holding out much hope. Wish me luck and send me patience vibes please I will need them.

Nothing else to report so hope everyone has as good a day as they can
