Balance transfers from Tandem Credit card

I've tried to transfer balance from Tandem credit card to HSBC one a long time ago, and it did not work. They did not recognize tandem credit card numbers.

Has anybody had a more recent experience with transferring balances from Tandem credit card elsewhere? Were you successful?

Comments

  • Have you asked Tandem?
  • I just got off the phone with Sainsburys bank and they have the same issue which is a bummer

Anyone know a way around this?
  • I'm having this issue too, was hoping to BT from Tandem to a Sainsburys CC. Does anyone know if there is a manual workaround to transfer a balance when a card isn't recognised?
  • I've tried Sainsbury's and HSBC (who even claimed they could transfer to tandem) only to have it blocked, twice by tandem.

Long and short of it is tandem do not allow balances to be paid off by means of a balance transfer. They will refuse credit from any bank and only accept debit payments. Occasionally someone night get lucky and out through a payment like this but they generally block them and flag them as 'fraudulent' or at least that's what I have just been told.

Utterly disgraceful service and I think they should be pulled from MSE because they clearly have their own agenda in locking people into their debt by not giving them access to tools that assist us in getting out of debt.

    Avoid at all costs.

    Their card.... Their rules.

Standard MSE advice is to pay credit card off every month so as not to incur interest.
It is advertised on MSE for its 0.5% cashback and for no overseas fees, so for that reason, it should stay.
  • Get a money transfer card instead. Transfer the money to your bank account then pay off the Tandem card with that.

Then work on paying off the MT card
