Benefits when moving in with friend?

Hello,
I am planning on moving to a bigger house so that my friend and her partner can move in with me. I work full time and do not claim any benefits. They receive housing benefit, ESA, he receives PIP and she receives carers allowance. Could anyone help me to figure out how and if their benefits would be effected and how we can make this work?
Thanks

You and they are separate households for benefits purposes. Their ESA, CA and PIP will not change. If the tenancy is in all 3 names they can get Housing Benefit for two thirds of it. If the tenancy is in your name only they cannot claim Housing Benefit unless you create a formal sublet so that they are liable to pay you rent, however the head tenancy may not permit this. If you have 2 separate tenancies in a shared house they can claim Housing Benefit for their tenancy.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Do you know if it would be a case of submitting a change of circumstances or would they have to start new claims?
They currently live in supported housing, and have been told that if they moved into a private let they would lose their ESA and have to claim universal credit, would you know anything about this?

If they need to claiming housing benefit and the area they're moving to is a full universal credit area, then they will have to claim UC and not housing benefit. This will mean that their ESA will transfer to UC. Check the area here. http://ucpostcode.entitledto.co.uk/ucdateDo you know if it would be a case of submitting a change of circumstances or would they have to start new claims?

If they are changing address within the same local authority I think they should be able to keep their housing benefit claim going, even if they are in a UC area, unless there are special rules with supported housing - they could speak to the local authority to ask about this.
Changing address should not, of itself, affect their ESAInformation I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
