                    Hello,
How far in advance can you renew your UK passport?
If lost or stolen i guess it would be from the date of it reported lost or stolen?
Thanks.

Think it's ten months. These get added to your passport.0

what about 3 or 4 years before expiry as you don't want to pay inflated costs?0

GOV.UK says:what about 3 or 4 years before expiry as you don't want to pay inflated costs?

If your passport’s expired, you must renew it before you can travel. You can renew your passport at any time.
Do the math to see if it's worth replacing your passport 3 or 4 years before it expires.
Personally, I think it's a bonkers idea.
IIRC, passport costs have only just gone up so I wouldn't think they'll do so again in the near future but who knows...0 -

Yes, I've read the other thread. Not any more. Any passports issued from the 10th of September onwards no longer have extra validity added
It's a very recently introduced change.
Personally, I think GOV.UK have been pretty duplicitous by simply removing the '9 month added' statement and not stating that if you renew early you don't get any added months.0
