I am now unemployed, and no longer have access to Microsoft Office at home. I'm looking for an alternative spreadsheet that has the functionality of Excel. Basically, it is traspose that I found useful it Excel. What I want it for is, I'm copying a beer list off a website, and I want it in different columns, as it appears on the website. Copying, and pasting though, just puts the whole lot in one column. This is why I use transpose.

microsoft office live (free) or google sheets (free) has basic functionality or you can buy office 2016 for a fiver(ish) from ebay."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Libre Office is the best used alternative to Microsoft Office. I don't know about transposingChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Excel live, assuming it supports transpose. If not, Google sheets which definitively does.0

Libre Office Calc most definitely supports transpose.0

^^^ A great offer from Andy and the one to choose. I have one and can confirm they are ok.
You are already familiar with MS Office so why change plus you get much more than a spreadsheet!0 -
Google Sheets is now very good for Excel compatibility (certainly on basic functions). The scripting is also very easy to use for adding greater intelligence to something like data import.0

not free, but under £10, just put 'office 2016' into ebay and sort by cheapest. this should give either be a 365 version which could be a yearly subscription, but look for one that mentions 'lifetime subscription'. The second type is the key for a DVD image that you download.0
