The earliest Christmas should be talked about & planned is 1st December in my opinion.

    Change it!

Not only change it NOW...but KEEP it throughout the year!

A true money-saver starts planning for Christmas from January!

Christmas cakes...Rumtopf….home made presents and cards...some things need to be planned and started well before 1st December.

(And yes I grumble at the shops starting Christms early...but that is different!)

About the 23rd/24th is more like mine! :p:D

At least having a named forum on here means people who want to discuss Christmas stuff can do so without bothering the rest of us - So I'm all for the change.

And they can always revert it back in the New Year if that helps any. :)

From a money saving perspective, you have to action at once, I suppose.

I like the idea of "not before Remembrance" but I'm not in the retail game and not required to keep the shareholders happy.

(There's a hardware store that runs a very similar & ruthless line on Christmas - it's his store, he cordially loathes the season, but in the last trading week the decorations are exhumed, dusted, draped & everyone is required to wear the silly hats. They close for Christmas & New Year & I believe get a buzz out of putting it all away for another 49 weeks. All this, yet they carefully found and tested the right bulb for a string of lights for my son when he was 8 & "his lights had broken". They may find Christmas a trial but their customer service is solid gold all year round.)

Do we get a Seasonal banner with Martin in a suitable hat please?

What date has it changed in previous years?

Personally I don't think the board is busy enough yet to change.

What about from 1st Nov so straight after Halloween or 6th Nov after Bonfire Night.

Changing early Nov could be a compromise between people who would rather think about Christmas in December and those of us who can't think of anything worse than shopping in the 3 weeks before Dec 25th with everyone else.

So what is the reason for no change yet? It is after Remembrance Sunday, there were comments from a couple of posters that it shouldn't be changed before.

The people that frequent the Christmas board are not usually the people who want to leave it all till December.

It seems seems unusually quiet on here at the minute considering we are only 6 weeks away from Christmas day, is it because people don't realise this becomes a Christmas (named) board
