This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I’m off out this morning to go and have a look for some new lampshades in a local town. I will get a train as soon as the morning rush is over. There is a coffee shop where I’m going that does lovely cake, so I’m sure that I will end up paying a visit there.
I’ve noticed that I am starting to feel cold first thing in the morning now; it really feels like autumn is here now. I want to try and hold off putting the heat just yet though.
Not sure what I dinner will be this evening. I think it will depend on what I have while I’m out. There is plenty in the freezers though, so I can do a freezer dive when I get in this afternoon.
My thoughts as always are with the TA family.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I found it difficult to get to sleep and woke up at 2, tried to go back to sleep and failed so I'm messing about on the net. I'm also hungry so am about to have some tea and toast.
I don't have specific plans today, some tidying but the main cleaning after being away for the weekend is done. Anyone would think I'd been away for 6 months, not 2 days. Surely it shouldn't be beyond tge wit of man (or 2 men) to stick some towels in the washing machine and swipe things in the bathroom. And what rational person thinks it is fun for me to have to clean all that mess off the cooker.
It is very windy and I'm not very warm.
Thoughts are with the TA family, with Poppy and those who are unwell or worried about family or friends.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Very wet and windy overnight but seems to be brightening up now, one of my sunflowers is laying on the grass, summer has definitely gone.
I had a lazy evening, wasn't feeling too good so had an early night, not sure if I feel better or not. I had to get out of the pool early yesterday, thought I was going to be sick, given it a miss this morning.
I think you need to have a word with your menfolk AOD, that's unacceptable.
Hope your students are good this year Gers.
Glad you had a good weekend Speky, another holiday next week? Lucky you.
Thoughts with the TAs as usual.
Haircut for me later then I really should sort out the spare wheel that's lounging about in the hall!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Another night with the wind blowing a gale. I miss dry days already.
Yesterday the gardener came whilst I was out to cut the grass and install a new clothes drying whirlie. I arrived home just in time to stop him cementing it into the back garden instead of the front. Now it's done. The front gets the autumn and winter sun as it's south facing so I want to use it.
Students... first group are lovely so far. Second group still school children and some behave like that, just a pain. Measures have now been put in place for next week to deter them - a member of staff will sit in with them. :j
This morning I'm planning to make a big batch of venison casserole then I'm driving right down the peninsula to Campbeltown. On a sunny day it's a beautiful drive down the west coast with a sparkling sea on my right all the way. Today the drive will be less lovely.
Sending out good vibes to everyone. All the thoughts I got during DM's illness really helped me so it's time they got recycled.
Happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning,
Meeting at my DM's nursing home today.
Then I will come home and have a quick lunch and back out to DM's house - more packing.

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, overcast and very breezy here this morning, hoping it will brighten up its a bit gloomy.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work also, and DS2 now having brekkie, he'll catch a lift with me and go to the gym.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg, yogurt/fruit for dessert. Tonight the menfolk will have chicken (which I'll shove in the oven to cook once I get home as it's early finish day for me). I'll probably do them some sort of HM egg fried rice dish to go with the chicken. I'll eat once I've been to fat club - don't think I've done anything this week or put on - we'll see.
Yesterday work was strange, it was very quiet for most of the morning, then it was horrendously busy and we struggled to get everyone seen, but we did our best. Not sure what today will bring, although it's my short day, so I always feel on the home straight once Tuesdays' are over as just a full day on Wednesdays' then I'm on days' off, obviously dependent on training days which are always on my days' off or Saturdays' which I am working this week but then off the next 2 due to our hols.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Dull and overcast here today and a lot cooler its meant to be like this all day.
I have hurt my back quite badly at work, I was lifting an oil drum and something 'went' and Ive been in agony since, im struggling to move and dosed up on pain killers, Im going to go in and fill in an accident form and if its no better I shall come home, I don't think I will be much good to them anyway.
Got some mince out for dinner tonight so think OH will do a chilli he makes a good chilli.
Washing to do tonight which will have to go on the airer.
AOD I would have made them clean it !!
Hugs to the TA's always thinking of you.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning chums
AOD thats awful ..make them sort it you are not their slave.
RR ouch try to take care work maybe not a good plan today
I seriously need to visit a dream analyst.. last night selection was just weird.
Out to lunch with a really good friend today she's been out of sorts for a while so will be good to catch up and see how she is. Last time we went to our favourite place it was packed and the food was awful. They didn't charge us and asked us to go back so we will but hoping for a better experience. Theres a great farm shop next door to the pub so may have a mooch but so don't need anything so will try to behave.
Cracked through a lot of work yesterday but still lots to do so need to carry on around my lunch treat.
Have a great day all and all my thoughts to TA0 -
Morning everyone,
Late up today, like Nelski I am having dreams, a lot of them frightening so my sleep is disturbed and I am tired this morning, goodness knows what is going on in my brain
It’s very breezy out and we are forecasted heavy rain for this afternoon so I will get over to see Lu once I’ve woken up properly. Other than that not much to report.
Seconded on making your menfolk tidy up after themselves AOD
Ouch on your back RR, hope it eases a tad today.
Thoughts are with the TA’s and also Poppy.
Have a good day folks x0 -
