Ensure we had a very thorough check on our current house before moving in (no issues found - was a fully gutted and redecorated property)
Same thing happened to us, woke up in the morning to find the kitchen ceiling had bulged and water leaking through the extractor fan, lovely.
Apparently had a large hole behind the bathroom sink which was leaking water.
As above I also took the opportunity to do a new bathroom since it was outdated anyways
Can't do much tbh, part of owning a house and fair play to the prev vendor for hiding it well/ not disclosing, nothing you can do tbh unless you do specific expensive surveys/ rip up walls e.t.c"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Thank you for all the answers. Luckily it turned out to be relatively easy to fix and not too much damage was done, nothing that a bit of paint can't sort out. Disappointing that vendors didn't think to disclose it but lesson learned, at least we spotted it in time and we didn't wake up to a flooded lounge :eek:0
