* Supply and fit Worcester 21i system boiler and 170 litre Centrebrand unvented cylinder (relocate both to loft!)
* Move one radiator and install new 1400x600 radiator
* Add TVRs to 10 radiators
* Hive smart thermostat
* Complete removal of old system and rubbish
This is a four bed, 1997 build house with 10 radiators in Bedfordshire. Gas supply enters house at front and water supply enter the house near the back. Existing system is original - Ideal boiler in utility room, hot water tank in airing cupboard, water tank in loft and water pump in the loft.
Got three quotes between £4100 - £4700 (and then one quote for £6000 !) Can anybody tell me if this price range is fair? Any comments or advice is appreciated. Thanks

At £4100 that seems quite reasonable.
The boiler quoted for is about £1k to buy.
A £170L cylinder would probably come in somewhere between £450 - £650.
10 TRV Valves is probably £200 upwards depending on the brand and quality the installer selects.
The Hive thermostat is another £130
That radiator is easily another £50-60 or more, again depending on what he wants to fit.
There will be other little items like additional pipe, fitting, clips and supports etc. That's probably another £50 - 70 of stock to include in the quote.
That is potentially around 1/2 of the lowest quote given that can be accounted for as materials required. The rest is for the work, which there is actually quite a lot of, especially as you are moving the boiler and tank into the loft.
I've had quotes for £1500 in labour to replace a combo boiler that isn't moving. So an extra £500 or so to move a system setup into the loft is a good offer in that context.
Boilers are never a cheap thing to replace. I feel your pain !0 -
Seems ok to me. Make sure they are sitting the cylinder over load bearing walls on a heavy constructed stand. It will weigh 200kg plus.
make sure they have checked your water main has good pressure and flow rate and ideally it needs upgrading to 22mm but 15mm can be ok if very good pressure and flow.0
