Buying house and moving school

Dear Parents,

We have a 5-year-old and 3-year-old who will now attend year 1 and Nursery.

The younger was attending a nursery which was a mile away from where we are living now.

My younger one has been offered 30 hours at the same school where my elder is already attending (very happy in his previous nursery which is a mile away), though he needs to settle with the new settings as this will be his new nursery starting next week.

We are in the process of buying house which we expect to complete by end of October

Awaiting draft contract from the vendors solicitor. Process likely going to finish between 6-8 weeks subject to everything in place, searches, exchange, and completion.

My question now is as my little one was attending a nursery a mile away, is it worth starting new nursery which is currently near my renting property (I will have to spend two weeks to settle him). I approached a school near by proposed purchase property and they are happy to offer both my sons places starting next week (The property which we are in the process of buying).

My options are as follows as I am mainly concerned for my 3 years old.

1. Should I continue in the same nursery as earlier and then move him straight after the completion of house buying process but will have to travel a mile every day.

2. Should I accept the place offered by my elder’s sons’ school which is just 0.1 miles away but will have to move him again when the house buying goes through

3. Shall we move both the kids to the new school near the property we are about to buy. (what if the house buying falls through)

  • Keep them where they are until the house purchase is completed. Travelling a mile is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and it's not for long.

Move them once the house purchase is completed.

Children move house/school all the time. They'll be fine.
