Car tax - £115 last Sept, £120 this year
Just wondering about this. I bought a second hand Jazz last year and it was taxed by the dealer (starting 1st Oct 2017) costing £115.
I've just renewed the tax and it cost me £120.
I've just done a search and found this quote on 'What Car':
"If you bought your car before 1 April 2017 or buy a second-hand car that was registered before this date, you won't be affected by these changes because they only apply to cars registered on or after that date. Older cars will continue to be taxed according to the old system of CO2 emissions ......" There then follows a table and shows my car (129 G/KM emissions) as costing £115 to tax.
Am I getting this wrong?

I'm assuming your car was registered prior to 1 April 2017? If so, £120 is correct based on this table

Yes, registered in March 2014, so £120 is correct.
Obviously has increased. Presumably the What Card article is out of date?

It goes up every year that there isn't a General Election, set in the teeny small print of the Budget.
When you apply for tax the DVLA ( or whatever they are called today) calculate it based on the data they hold for your registration, so it won't be wrong.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The "changes" mentioned are for vehicles registered after April 2017. Your car is on the previous system which, at the time the article was published, had a £115 tax cost. Since then there has been the usual annual inflationary increase in that cost.Just wondering about this.
