When Ebay goes against you.

I'm really annoyed with a buyer an eBay, who purchased an unused (still in packaging with factory tags) MK Purse from me that was an unwanted gift.

I know the scales that go on, especially with branded goods. You sell a genuine item, get a fake or broken one back and they complain via Ebay to force the issue. I sold as non-returns for this reason.

Buyer gets bag, opens the zip twice, it breaks and then she complains contacting me for a refund.

In the end I've settled for a £15 refund so she can get the zip pull (that she broke) fixed. But on a £70 item it's ridiculous. I didn't send it broken, it didn't arrive broken - But I know that if I'd let her file the complaint I would have ended up being told to refund her and accept a broken item back.

Just a vent. Wind up merchants out there.

Morals of the story - Ebay is sometimes not worth it and even genuine MK goods are p*ss poor. I won't be buying the gf any more!

    eBay will side with the buyer 99/100. It’s a crap place for
    Sellers now with dishonest buyers.

    I would be looking for a refund too if the zip broke on a £70 bag after opening it twice.

    If you had bought something for £70 and it broke 2 days later wouldn't you want your money back?

    I have always commented that stating no returns attracts scammers that know ebay better than you. They know they WILL get a refund.

    It helps to look at their situation assuming they are honest, rather than rather cynically assume they are all liars.
    Presumably they sent you a photo of the broken zip? What more proof do you need?
    You could have given them a full refund and got the item returned.
    I accept returns, I've nothing to lose.

    Stating "no returns" is pointless. There are dishonest sellers and some buyers will mark you as one.

    Yep, you can say anything you like, been several threads showing how bad some sellers are with terms and conditions.

    ie.
    If it arrives broken its the buyers fault, no refunds

    If it doesn't arrive its the buyers fault, no refunds

    Any problems tough luck your not getting a refund.

    But savvy buyers know these sellers will lose if you open the correct case.

    You can put any terms you like, but upholding them is a different matter.

    I see her point. But you must understand mine. That purse was factory fresh. The zip is fine, it was the puller that she broke. I managed to open and close it perfectly when checking the purse prior to packing it and sending it to her. Either MK make a weak puller or she mishandled it, but I lost out.

    If I had sent a broken purse, I'd accept it back. If it had arrived broke, I would have claimed from Hermes. But she broke it, not anyone else.

    You can whinge and moan all you like. But if you sell shoddy goods that break shortly after the buyer receives them, then it's your problem. It doesn't matter that they were brand new. the buyer is entitled to a refund.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
