L&Q shared ownership

Does anyone out there have first hand experience of L&Q.

My son is thinking ( nothing done so far) of buying one of their shared ownership flats. I've done a quick google and trustpilot reviews are dire, it would be good to have them confirmed or not. We have no experience of such schemes, flashy brochures are all very good but....

  • Hi I am in a similar situation at the moment. Did your son proceed with L&Q after all? If yes, how was the experience?

    Thanks

Sorry just spotted your question. He didn't proceed went with Peabody trust in the end ,all OK
  • I would avoid, if anything go help to buy. if later in life you want to own more of your property and buy it out off the goverment, then they hit you with a bunch of legal fees every time.
  • L @ Q are shocking. Defective properties and crippling service charges.

Quick question, it seems Peabody's reviews on Trustpilot are no better, so what made your son go for them instead?
Also, I'll take some reviews with a grain of salt  I'm not a homeowner (yet) but I know as humans we're (unfortunately) more inclined to leave complaints than complements when it comes to reviews. With  that said, I do believe, L&Q probably has more unhappy customers than trustpilot shows (but hopefully also more happy ones too).

He was already renting from Peabody so knew their build quality. He also was studying for a degree in architecture and was impressed by the architects who designed the place along with the layout of the flat he bought was perfect for him.  This was the 3rd place he'd bought so wasn't a newbie first time buyer. He's been in just over a year now and he hasn't complained about anything, so nothing major. We've been a couple of times and are impressed with the finish/ layout and the views ( top floor flat with views across London).
