ESA Review due but not had letter.

Last July i started getting ESA and did not have to go for a medical assessment as they had enough information from form and my doctor.
so nurse at whoever does the assessment in my area put on report to have a review in a years time which i am now well over but i have not heard anything from DWP asking me to go to a assessment.

so is this normal for it to go over the year or should i contact them and ask about it?

When I went for my assessment for ESA in 2015 it said I would be fit or should be fit for work in 1 years time, It's took them till May 2018 to send me a review.... Which they decided this time on a paper based decision.

Just wait till they send you a new ESA50, Normally it's 3 years when put in support group.

Phone centre for health and disability assessment on Monday to see if they have anything on their system to indicate that you need a new assessment. When i got my report and it said 1 year, It also made me worry to. So I can see where you're coming from.

They very often go over the time stated. Some are contacted in 6 months, while others it's more than 3 years. They say the maximum time in the Support Group before review is 3 years but i've heard some haven't been contacted for 5 years. I know i went 4 years without review once. We will all live in fear of not knowing when that ESA50 is going to drop through the letter box but if you ring the health assessment providers to ask, then you may rock the boat.

You could start to gather your evidence now so it's ready for when it does arrive.

Unless you really can’t live with the uncertainty wait for them to contact you.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I was awarded CB ESA support group in March 2014 with a recommendation to be reviewed within 24 months. Four and a half years later, no review as yet.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • It took two years for my first reassessment appointment to come through, even then I think that was only prompted by a change in circumstances as it was supposed to be a yearly thing, I couldn't attend that one so asked for it to be rescheduled

Early last year I had a phone call to ask why I hadn't been for a second medical even though I hadn't had a letter & I only just had a new appointment come through this week so that will be the second medical in 6 years & almost 4 years since I was originally supposed to attend

My advice is leave them to it, the system is poor & badly managed but they will get round to it in the end, in the meantime as long as they keep paying you don't worry about it

But this approach does not appear to have served you very well?

    I wouldn't ring them.

Just wait until they contact you as long as your still getting paid don't worry about it.

ESA is awarded indefinitely so don’t worry about it. Just wait for them to contact you with the ESA 50 review form.
