This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I got nicely up to date on the housework and washing yesterday, and even managed to make some individual cottage pies to put in the freezer, so no need to do any chores today.
I’m going out with my brother and sister in law to visit her brother and his wife this afternoon. They invited us all for tea some months ago, but we have never found a date that suited everyone.
If the weather is good this morning I want to go for a walk in the park.
Thinking of everyone who is poorly and has worries at the moment, especially the TAs.0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly, I hope you enjoy your family tea x
It’s quiet on here this morning, hopefully is means that people who usually struggle to sleep are having a lie-in, I woke up early in the middle of a bad dream and couldn’t get back to sleep so came down to make a cup of tea.
Apart from walking little dog and getting Lu settled for the night I did nothing more yesterday than read and watch cricket, today is set for much the same with the added excitement of the Archers omnibusOh and I did pop to the farmshop for a few bits including some chicken breast quarters which will be our Sunday lunch.
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday, good to hear how well your Mum is doing Gers.
Thinking of the TA’s as always x0 -
Morning
Got woken up by 2 messages beeping through on my facebook on my phone. One from a "friend" in the states saying we hadn't spoken for ages and she missed me......ahhhhhhhh I don't miss you at 3am on a Sunday morning and one at 4am from my Canadian friend with the flight times for her up and coming visit...think I need words with my foreign friends about time differences tempted to reply to them now but that would make me as badAnyway I know I should turn it off but worry about mother so wont do that either.
So not a great start to a planned lie in but at least I haven't wasted the day. Yesterday I did some tv catch up then went out with a friend for a drink. She's off to disney today so was in a holiday mood which was marginally annoying but I cant blame her really. Today I will continue with the pj and tv chill interspersed with some little jobs in the ad breaks. Didn't eat my lamb koftas yesterday so need to have those today.
Simon Rimmer this morning for my necessary chef fix so may put in some crumpets are as I always get hungry watching gorgeous food being made.
Have a great Sunday all and as always my hugs are heading across the pennines to the TA family0 -
Morning,
Nothing exciting happening in my life. Just more packing, paperwork to do with DM.
I shall put the WM on to do a load and hang it out.
Cloudy, dry and dull so hopefully the washing will dry.

I was woken by early morning texts too .. forgot to switch my phone off last night!!
still feeling smug about my bargain buy yesterday .. got a new cafetiere from m&s for just £2.50 .. had a £5 reward voucher from a survey I did months ago, then found £2 coin on the pavement, so a 9.50 cafetiere only cost me 2.50!!
washing and housework done, just a last minute trip to meadowhell for a rucksack for ds1 for college ...
happy sunday everyone, and good luck to anyone doing the great north run !!wading through the treacle of life!
debt 2016 = £21,000. debt 2021 = £0!!!!0 -
Woke up stupid early, had a cup of ginger tea [least disgusting tasting thing I could find], sat out the back for a bit looking at the grey sky, came back in, sun came out! Woop!
Took free pheasant breasts out of freezer for casserole later on, went through fridge nearly out of date stuff and organised for consumption, fiddled about a bit on the internet....Probably have a nap in a bitNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning all
Its a little bit overcast here this morning but meant to be nice later on, I have stripped the beds and got them on a hot wash, I can hang them out today on my washing line :j OH put it back up yesterday and put the table and chairs on the patio. He did BBQ out there last night but it was too cold to sit out, I sat in the warmth of the conservatory watching and offering advice whilst drinking ProseccoWe ate in the conservatory too.
The evenings are much cooler now but ive not lit the fire yet Im trying to hold on for a while longer and make the summer hang on for a bit longer.
This morning we are going to wash aand polish all the outside windown, they are all really dusty from the builders, and make a pile of things for the dump. Then take pup out for her marathon walk later this afternoon.
I got a gammon joint fron aldi wrapped in bacon for £4.99 so that will be dinner today with roasties and veg, and possibly some left for a sandwich for lunch tomorrow.
Going to have toast and marmite after this, its one on my most favourite things.
Have good days all xx
Hugs to the TA's xx
And well done to Gers mum xx0 -
Morning folks.
It's wet, grey and miserable outside, perfect weather for my work planning day! No incentive to go in the gardens. I keep on being distracted as I hate doing planning.
I cooked some chicken thighs yesterday so I've got some for lunch tomorrow. Stocked up on veg too, especially leeks. Love leeks.
There's no need for a washing load, I'll probably take some meat out of the freezer to defrost as I want to batch cook on Wednesday.
No other news, my day will be as dull as the weather!
Redruby - toast and marmite is just yummy. :j
Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. 'TA's'.
Up just after 9.30. OH washed and dressed, no CA this morning, managed ourselves, but its a long job.
There was a faith mission at the Chapel yesterday, R came round this morning with cake that was left over, so no baking needed for several days..........R also looked at the rail for the curtain in the kitchen, he is going to do it sometime next week. I need to get the rail from Wilko's tomorrow so he can put that up as well.
Pork for supper tonight, need to have a sort through the veg draw and see what there is besides cauli and calabrese.
The sun was out when we woke, it seems to have clouded over a bit not much breeze. I need to get OH out into the garden to trim his hair. No laundry till tomorrow.0 -
Good morning & thanks for the start Holly.
I didn’t go to bed last night as was concerned that DSis would miss her 8:00 a.m. hospital appointment for a scanWoke her & DH who was giving her a lift @ 6:30. Made coffee for DH but DSis on caffeine ban until after her scan
They departed on time :T
I was going to go to bed but decided to make some savoury cheese biscuits, vacuumed downstairs, put a load in the wm & cleaned the oven :rotfl: As it is nice & windy the 1st load is on the whirligig & the 2nd load has just finished.
Will peg out then continue watching the motorcycle racing :rotfl:
Gentle (((hugs))) to all the poorlies & those caring for poorlies, especially TA & more robust (((hugs))) to those who want/need or would like one.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday
