Holiday Mis sold description

We recently returned from a holiday with Leger holidays
A 12 night holiday described asA Summer Concert in Tuscany seeing Andrea Bocelli live at The Theatreof Silence in his home town of Lajatico in Tuscany
With special guests
The holiday included a coach tour of areas of Tuscany
2 hotels enroute to main stay hotel for 7 nights H/b
And 2 hotels enroute back home to U K
Main stay hotel food was poor and below standard for 4*
When the “ concert day “ arrived and we sat down in the arena
It was an Opera and not a concert
Some obscure opera we had never heard of
With Andrea Bocelli taking a leading part
And being directed around the stage sadly
Horrendous music ..... lots of white wigs .... French Revolution type stuff
Lots of people walked out into the 2nd act
A truly disappointing night
That put a dampener on the rest of the holiday
We’ve complained to Leger and been offered £350 as a goodwill gesture
Was thinking of taking them to ABTA.
We found out the actual Opera was announced last Oct 2017.
Before the actual holiday went on sale and sold as A Summer Concert
They deny they are ate fault
We paid £ 2450 pp for this

A few things to note.
Firstly, an opera can indeed be a concert, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say you were promised a concert but given an opera.
Secondly, star ratings have no universal meaning but often only relate to what facilities are offered rather than the standard of those facilities/accommodation. For example minibar, room service, concierge, in room hot drink facilities, complimentary toiletries, turn down service etc.
Did you complain at the time? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You paid £2450 per person for the trip - that's a total of £4900
For less than half that, you could have got flights to either Pisa or Florence, had 12 nights in one of those places and gone on a day trip to Lajatico, booked an overnight stay there and gone to the concert at the teatro, and paid the cost of getting to and from the airports.
Anyway, a 4* hotel in Italy is not the same standard as a 4* hotel here in the UK and, as for the food, was the "deal" all inclusive - did it include all meals, and did you expect meals such as you get in UK hotels?
If St Leger are members of any rderess scheme, such as ABTA - have a look on their website and/or literature - have you tried complaining to the scheme?0 -
Seems like you're not the only ones.

Ok, so...
Plus:
- coach tour provided
- All hotels provided
- Opera provided (with the person as stated)
- Hotel facilities provided
- Flights etc provided
Cons:
- Concert turned out to be an opera
- No "special guests" provided
- Food in the mainstay hotel was poor (7/12 days)
Well, firstly I would argue that the opera could well be classed as a concert given the (google) definition is "a musical performance given in public, typically by several performers or of several compositions." - You heard a musical performance right?
Secondly, the "special guests" thing means nothing really unless they've made strong hints/suggestions about who it may be. If they haven't made such hints, the "special guests" could literally be anyone! A band I like had a "special guest" who was some fairly talent-less singer who followed the band on tour; he was funny mind you and got crowds warmed up, but his talent wasn't in singing...
Food being "poor" is very subjective. Did it cause illness etc? Was it completely inedible? If you've dined out for most nights, and have receipts, then you may well have a case to claim back the costs. Equally, if you contracted food poisoning then you could probably claim there too.
Aside from that like, I think £350 is fairly generous. MOST elements of your holiday were fine! The Opera issue is probably down to your own taste rather than anything else and the food you haven't convinced me was *that* big an issue (ie could also be an individual taste issue).
Mind you, if I'd have paid £2450 pp (!!!!) or a holiday like this I'd be fuming, I'm convinced you could have done this for MUCH CHEAPER if not as a package holiday. Alas, that's your decision to make.0 -
Meant £2490 for both of us
Silly me0 -
Yes
Wrong decision to choose this holiday I guess
We normally do cruises etc
Just so disappointed
Anyhow the article was in yesterday’s The Dail Mail ... take a read .... it’s online too

Not too keen on the wigs myself, but would be quite happy with the heaving chests0 -
That’s me in the newspaper article0

We did not expect British meals
Far from it
We love eating out and the Italian food is wonderful
In the hotel the food was pretty dire ..... I piece of dry chicken and butterbeans
Fish with no sauce
Cold meat
Cold everything really
The only people we could complain to was the 2 coach drivers and therreply was
“ complain when we get home to Leger “
Lots of people on the coach were not happy
All went down hill really
Bad choice
Never again
Lesson learnt0
