NI stamp question on job seekers

My eldest son went on Job seekers allowance and has been on it a while.
he previously had continious stamps paid for five years at his former job.
We are arguing over whether he has now got a year of stamps on job seekers
I was wondering the dates of the entitlement to one years NI stamp, as we do not know exactly as got conflicting answers off people.
Is it from first week January to the following first week in January, or Is it from first week April to the following first week in April,.
Thanks

Yes, although he is young, I want to ensure that the will be entitled to full state benefit in future years, and now that we know it is from April to April, he now has six years behind him,
Thank you for all your replies, this is a great website for answers.0 -
It’s worth keeping an eye on the nI record from time to time to make sure that credits have been correctly recorded.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
