DIY conveyancing

Hi all

I'm struggling to find a good general introduction to DIY conveyancing; something that will give a good overview of the whole process.

Can anybody help

Thanks in advance.

This is a superb book on the subject, bit pricey today though, think i paid about a fiver for it many years ago.

It WAS a superb book. In 1994.

It's now way out of date.

There are a number of more recent books - google/Amazon will find them, but always check the publication date! This is 2016:

    There's also a 'Which?' guide.

ps - I'm sure you know what you're doing, but for the benefit of others my advice about DIY conveyancing is

    * selling is easier/safer than buying - as long as you get the money, you're fine!
    * buying with a mortgage - not worth DIY as the lender will use a solicitor to duplicate your work - at your cost
    * leasehold is more complex than freehold
    * unregistered is more complex than registered
    * covenants can add risk/complexity
    * you need to be literate, intelligent, willing to spend time, and have good attention to detail

Thanks guys. In the end I went with a book I could download for Kindle but its not great for the lay person I've learned. Its surprisingly hard to just get a simple breakdown of the overall process.

    Can anybody help?

Look - what do you want?

An overview of the process so you can monitor what your solicitor does?

Or help to DIY? If DIY you need to understand the entire process in detail - not a 'simple breakdown'!
