Flies appearing out of nowhere ...

Howdy !
I live on the ground floor of a converted Victorian flat . I have mesh on the windows to keep spiders and insects out . I don't have windows in the bathroom or kitchen . Fair enough .
Yesterday morning I had a fly come into the living room. I found my can of raid and sprayed around hoping to get it .
When I came back from the shops I found it in the bathroom half dead and disposed of it . This morning I found another half dead one on the window in the living room. I got rid of that too.
I've just found another one half dead in the bathroom and it is also gone . I'm wondering if what happened last week may have triggered something ...

Last week The air vent extractor was full of dust . Unusual, but I cleaned it with a small paintbrush . Bear in mind, I have mesh on the vent and put it back the way it was . Ok.
On the same day , the fire brigade came and freed a pigeon stuck on the roof area. My guess is that the pigeon knocked all the dust down the vent . Very Sherlock Holmes there . So the question is , are the flies coming from that area in the flat? Difficult in a way because of the mesh . I don't know where else they could come from .
I've sprayed raid up into the vent but not sure if there's a load coming down from where the pigeon was .

Please advise . Thanks .

Three flies is not exactly an infestation. If you hadn't stopped the spiders coming in as well, then they might have disposed of the flies for you...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • This is true :). I was thinking more of preventing an infestation ,and
was puzzled as to how they got in so quickly . No sign of anything this morning . Hopefully, all nipped in the bud .
