in Credit cards
Hi Am a newbie!:j
Am wondering wat to do right now. I havent got massive amounts of debts but i dont feel they are manged carefully enough right now.
I have about 3,200 on 2 credit cards - I am paying off just over the minimum each month but the interest is killing me.
Have recently paid off 2 big loans but they have not appeared as settled on credit reports yet and although i have applied for low apr balance transfer credit card i dont think im going to get it. Am now toying with a loan?
Any ideas of what i can do? any help would be great feel stuck with the debt - am only payin off interest really n need to hit the balance.
Thanks in advance:rolleyes: Sara

Welcome to MSE.
I think you need to read Martin's articles about credit cards and moving the Balances to lower rate APR or 0% APR cards and then concentrate on paying off the card with the highest APR first.
There are credit cards called Life of Balance cards they have a lower rate than normal standard rate of most cards and the low rate stays the same until you pay off all of your credit card debt even if it takes four years.
Look out for these and consider using one of these cards until your debt is reduced and then apply for a 0% card.
Beaware not to apply for cards willy nilly on line as this can damage your credit score.Do your research of Martin's articles and select a card for a purpose that suits your circumstances say purchases or Balance Transfers and then apply.
There are lots of ways to deal with your circumstances and some ideas may not be the way forward for you this is why I suggest reading what Martin has already written once you have decided what you would like to do then post here again for more help also have a look at debt free wannabes forum for further help.
Good luck.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -
ok will read around - but because of history etc dont think that 0% will accept me - just need to stop the interest! or lower it - so maybe the life rate cards would be good - it is releativy easy to get accepted on for one of those?0

As you are aware you can only be accepted for some cards if your credit rating is good.
If you go along to the Citizens Advice bureau in your town they will give you further free help and advice and will contact the credit companies and negociate a lower rate or a suitable monthly payment rate that will help you reduce your debt.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0
