Universal credit dilemma

Hi
I was asked to claim universal credit as my housing benefit claim was cancelled, I work 16 hours so it was purely for this. This month they paid me and hasn’t taken into account my earnings. I have now sorted this however.. when I was claiming housing benefit before the change to UC - my daughter was paying the majority of the rent as she works full time - does UC take in to account her earnings when they pay me as she is a non dependent and works full time.
Sorry about the long post, had no end of problems with them!

Compared to many yours is not a long post - quite brief actually!

Your daughter's earnings are not taken into account for UC. However you must tell DWP that she lives with you (I infer you have done this). There is a flat rate deduction from the maximum UC payable to you of £72.16/month for each non dependant. UC is much more generous than Housing Benefit in this respect which had much higher deductions for non dependants in full time work.

I didn’t want to contact them & confuse the issue even further as I contacted them today & they left me on hold for over 20 mins and them came back to tell me I was right after arguing that I was was wrong about what I was asking..! One person on the phone told me one thing & today told me that was completely wrong.. nightmare from start to finish. Thank you for your reply, saved me being put on hold with that awful music again!

Just check that they have taken the £72.16 deduction into account.
