I have visited a few 'doggy' forums but they all suggest a behaviourist (have you seen how much they cost?) and are all doggy lovers so any anti bark collars or anything scary for the dog is a big no no!!

I was paying £15 per hour for a one to one sessions with a behaviourist. I don't think that's outrageous, and we only needed a few one to one sessions. It's a relatively small cost when compared with everything else you have to pay for with a dog.

I am vehemently against anti-bark collars, not because they are 'scary' but because they are cruel. Squirting citronella in a dog's face or giving it an electric shock are no way to treat an animal. But even if you put that aspect of it aside, punishment and scare tactics are ineffective training methods. Especially for something as self rewarding as barking.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
