Hi, after a bit of help please.
I had disability road tax on my car, unfortunately I have had two strokes and can no longer drive.
I have given my car to my son in law who has transferred his own disabled road tax to the car I have given him,
My question is can I give my other daughter my road tax?
She takes me shopping, takes me to all hospital appts, to GPs etc
TIA

No it has to be the driver with the Disability.
https://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vehicles-and-transport
The vehicle must be registered in the disabled person’s name or their nominated driver’s name.
It must only be used for the disabled person’s personal needs. It can’t be used by the nominated driver for their own personal use.0 -
But she is my nominated driver but in her own car not a disability one.0

Yes but the car can only be used for you. She can't use it to go to work, Visit friends or nip the shops.0 -

Nope, afraid not! As stated clearly here in this link.https://www.disabledmotoring.org/motoring/road-tax-exemption?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyPqbl5-p3QIVBZ3tCh3zeAASEAAYASAAEgJ1LPD_BwE0 -
The use of a disabled tax car is more restrictive than a motability vehicle.0
-
The restrictions on the tax disc is why motability have those rules.
In fact, people are often told by motability that anyone can use the car for any purpose, when they'd be breaking the DVLA rules.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Just seems a bit daft that she couldn't use her own car unless I'm with her, I can understand a mobility car but not road tax. I wanted to pass it on to her because of the running around she does for me.0

It's not a benefit to be 'passed' on. That is why there are the restrictions. If she works then the vast majority of use will NOT be to help you.0
