Electricity bill seems very high

If you can drive a PC then you can set up a spreadsheet and start reading your meters and recording the results.
Do it weekly for a while (making sure you record both the peak and off peak registers) you will then understand how much leccy you are using and when you are using it. Once you've understood that you can see how it varies when you turn stuff on and off.
You should be reading your meters at least once a month and giving the info to your supplier. You should also be checking your on-line account to make sure that they are using the readings that you give them and getting them corrected if they aren't.
Just waiting for a bill and thinking that it's bit on the high side doesn't really help you sort it all out. if you dont monitor it you can't control it.
It's not rocket science it's common sense.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
