Car return

I bought a used car from a local dealer and picked it up on the 19/07/18 for £4259, got day insurance and drove it home. The vehicle was then not insured till the 05/08/18 (price reasons) and then on the 09/08/18 i returned the vehicle to the dealer with a transmission issue. The saleman i was in touch with confirmed it was an issue with transmission box which they was fixing, i recieved the vehicle back on the 20/08/18 to which is was drove a hand full of times as i mainly use my motorbike. My wife and i took a drive to see our family (2 hour drive) one weekened and the drive there was faultless... obviously i was happy the problem was fixed. However, on the 02/09/18 (returning that same weekend) about 5 minutes from our house the problem which was caused by the tbox returned... (the whole drivetrain violently shakes and in turn shakes the vehicle making it hard to control in 1st and reverse gear) The vehicle was returned to the dealer on the 05/09/18 as work commitments prevented me from doing so on the 03/09/18-04/09/18, i asked if i could have a refund for the vehicle (obviously expecting a short loss of money due to minor usage) to which the dealer has refused and said i can either get the vehicle fixed even tho there is 'no issue like the first time' (hes un aware the salemen who actually sold me the vehicle at the time had informed me they found a problem with the tbox upon the first return) and keep it or they'll accept a part ex for one of their other vehicles but only for the value of £3500 or less. Now is it true if they failed to fix the issue the first time i can decline the second attempt and get the full/partial refund... however i am right to believe that an £800 loss is abit extreme for 37 days of ownership which only 21 days are of actual driving... any advise/legal help would be gratefully accepted. Thankyou
