The English law is applied to credit cards debts for UK based companies if you fail to pay the debt the company may then report the theft to the Police so as and when you return you will face arrest and possible imprisonment if this happened who would look after or control your property in Thailand while you were in prison. You can contact the credit card company and explain what has happened or you can just stay in Thailand and take the risk if you return.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0

Bokkens, I am confused as your post seems to suggest that the English law provides for credit card companies to report 'theft' to the police when a debtor fails to pay and that a defaulting debtor faces arrest and imprisonment.
This is not the case and credit debts can only be recovered by action in the civil courts, which may order a debtor to pay and help recover the money by enforcement but cannot sentence the debtor to punishment. Theft is a criminal offence and very different from debt. (A credit provider takes a calculated risk when lending and knows that not every customer/debtor will be able to repay, but that if they are a successful business their gains will outweigh their losses and that the civil courts can be used to recover debts where possible). Imprisonment and arrest are criminal sanctions.0 -
There is a few scant details provided by the OP,if the OP is a debtor then you may well be correct as normal debtors are not reported to the polce unless there are elements of theft (the term theft covers all thefts including frauds ,deceptions etc)in which case a investigation into the situation will establish if there is a case to answer and passed to the police the police would make contact with the OP and take it from there. If it wasn't resolved and the OP return to the UK and if the OP's details were placed on the PNC computer there is every likelyhood the OP would be arrested for futher enquiries to take place.
As long as a line of dialogue is maintained between the OP and the credit company and no deception fraud has taken place the Op will remain as a debtor.
I have read the OP and interpreted the question as showing a willingness not to repay the outstanding amount as he is clearly worried about repossession of his property although it would need further investigation I suggest there is a element of deception from what is written whether this is intentional is another matter.
Either way the OP has two replies and plenty to think about.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0
