    I'd suggest contacting Oxfam directly. I have found all sorts of issues when donating things to my local Oxfam- everything from being told "can you dontate earlier in the day than this please" at 5pm (shop closed at 6pm) to being told they "hand enough tops actually you can have these back" to "no we don't take books you have to take them elsewhere" (they did take books, it was a big part of their display at the time). I'd suggest that training isn't done to the same degree in every branch... If I couldn't find a similar scheme elsewhere, I'd contact their head offices and just ask to donate to them not the store.
