Because someone else has touched them:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

reasons could include:
not a mixer, tired, scratched, difficult to turn those with arthritis0 -
Obviously people change all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons when they move house, but to change toilet seats or taps just because someone else has used them (which you seem to be implying) is pretty crazy, no offence intended!0

Its not crazy if the seat is old/ stained. Or you dislike the colour.0

You say they 'are of decent quality' so in that case I wouldn't change anything.
I see no reason to change something that is fully working and of a style I like. Over time I have upgraded bathrooms but usually when I move it's just a clean.. too much unpacking and sorting to start DIY tasks0 -

But that was not you said, you asked would people change them if they were in decent condition.
So why are you changing them?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

So why are you changing them?
I am replying to a specific question as to why people might change taps.
In 1st post I said sink in decent condition, but we are changing taps0 -

The first time I went to sit on it, I thought I'd somehow missed it and was going to end up on the floor, I kept dropping down and down and there was nothing coming up to meet my bum.
It's a downstairs loo and I can't inflict this on visitors. God help them if they've got creaky knees, I'd have to install a call-for-assistance button.
Think this is a thing now. When I replaced one in my mum's house the new one was 2 inches lower than the original. Maybe because they're all imported from abroad now.0 -
We moved into a house with what looked like a fairly grim bathroom - but we couldn't afford to do anything major with it. We gave it a darned good clean, changed the old black toilet seat for a white one (the cheapest one we could find), and put matching towels in (which we already owned). I showed a colleague the before and after photos, and she genuinely thought we'd replaced the whole suite!!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
