Hi can anybody help me with a problem i am having , i recently brought this new digital camera but when i plug in the usb lead and power up the camera the usual process of installing the drivers takes place however the new hardware wizard asks for the software and subsequently fails. The response on fuji. co.uk is as follows
To use your camera with your PC you will need to change the USB mode to DSC (digital still camera) this can be changed in the setup menu of the camera. But this setting is not on the set up on the camera does anybody know if there is a vista hotfix for this problem or any drivers that can sort this out i am running windows vista , i know i know it does seem to be isolated to vista which is surprising as it is vista certified and it all seems fine on xp. thanks in advance

Get yourself a cheap card reader, when you want to transfer pictures just plug your Xd card into it.
Your PC will regard it as another disc drive, and you wont need any drivers. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
You could also try and see if there is updated software on Fuji's site thats newer than the one supplied and that Fuji didnt mention.Always looking for a bargain and to help0

Thanks for the replies a card reader does seem to be the viable solution however it does annoy me that a so called vista certified piece of hardware does'nt work the way it should. I have spent some time trawling fujifilms website because vista has the install files for the camera with the operating system the only downloadable files appear to be for xp and earlier or mac.I shall keep looking!!!!0

I got a card reader for my camera as you can use it with other folks PCs if you want to quickly share some photos with them.
Also spent hours once trying to get Kodak's easy share software working on a friends PC, it wasn't and wouldn't.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Problem solved sort of i have given up for the time being trying to find vista drivers that will allow my camera to be installed. As my laptop has a built in card reader i have decided to use that instead, and after about 2 hours of installing card reader drivers and uninstalling them i have finally got it to work. As i never had a card it would accept i have never used it but it now works with sd-hc 4gb cards. I am hoping that when vista sp 1 is released a lot of little driver problems will be resolved. Although i have had problems admittedly all seem vista related i would still highly recomend vista but with most things it all comes down to personal experience and preference. But thanks to everyone who has tried to help.0

In the camera setup look for a setting called "USB Mode" which should have 3 settings, you want to choose the setting with the picture of a memory card, then connect the camera to the computer and turn it on, it should now appear in my computer as a removeable drive.
I'm not sure if the f50 setup's been changed but it works with a couple of older finepix cameras i've got.0
