it was only ever the cost of construction that was meant to be £60k - land purchase costs were on top

great cheaply built houses on expensive land, got to love govenment stupdity.

if land were cheap or readily available then you could put together housing according to your needs and tastes , instead they decide what we need is a whole load of identikit houses marginally cheaper cause they have diven the material costs down like supermarket own brand beans.

Ah there are no cheap houses these days. If its cheap its because its a run down old dump located in a war zone of a council estate.

Not even cheaper. You can get an extra bedroom for less money in the same village. I agree about the cost of land. Why should house profits be a lottery win for a few farmers who can get planning permission on their land?

Poppycat, I think the nearby view is safe for now. Imagine a village based around a crossroads; this development fills in the third quarter. Any more houses would lose that village feel, and residents must look down the hill at an expanding Maidstone with some nervousness.

What I dont get is why they have to be so "executive loft apartment" style.
