Old Style Daily Wednesday 5th September 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

I had planned to go to the coast for the day today but the forecast isn’t looking as good now so I’m not sure what to do today. I think I will go to the shops first thing and then take it from there. I do need to go to another town for a few things so may end up doing that instead.

I had a lovely catch up with my friend who now lives abroad yesterday it was so nice to see her again. She is hoping to get sent back over for work next January and if she does we will meet up then.

Yesterday evening I felt so cold that I gave in and had the heating on for an hour, I really can’t cope with feeling cold when I’ve already put loads of layers on. I think that there must have been a sudden drop in temperature, that’s when it seems to get to me.

I hope the TAs are doing ok.

AOD it’s good to hear that you are sleeping a bit better now.

ILC sorry your mum isn’t too good.

Hope Steve’s appointment went ok snoozer.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning :)

Reality hits this morning. Off to Birmingham for a course so its gonna be a long day. Cant moan after my lovely spa day but 4.30 is not a time I ever want to see twice in the day I don't know how some of you do it although I guess nanny naps play a part :D Wonder if I can set a long exercise and head for a daily thread nap :rotfl:

Packed up a couple of rolls and some Soreen for lunch although standard form will be them gone by 9

When I got home yesterday I had a lovely surprise waiting for me from a certain OS mum. I will be wrecking my teeth on the gorgeous rock and my fridge magnet is just so appropriate :) Thank you Jackie you are an amazing lady.

Missing TA hope all is ok

Have a good day all and stay safe
  • Bother, just lost my post. Thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

I've slept a lot better again and have only just got up. I woke a couple of hours ago but that was because I was cold so easily remedied.

Today I'm off to buy a gift for my friend's daughter. I usually buy her something to wear and it tends to be a frivolous purchase rather than something practical for every day so that's fun shopping. The challenge is always getting tge size right as she is tall for her age.

Otherwise no fascinating plans today. I might look for a replacement for the Pyrex bowl that somehow accidentally and astonishingly got broken yesterday. O.H was in the kitchen, I was upstairs and heard the crash and came down - he was very cross with me. I'm sure you can all work out the logic here.

Sending goid wishes to those who are unwell or worried and hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy, dull, breezy and cool here. I have washing to peg out, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was chicken, new potatoes, peas and gravy for the menfolk, DH ate the lot and enjoyed it, he says he feels better than he did, still not right but hopefully going in the right direction. Tonight they will be having fish, mash and mushy peas. Last night I had chicken sagg with basmati rice, very nice it was too, menfolk all decided they quite liked it too, after trying mine.

Yesterday work was either manic or dead, we'll see what today brings, I'm doing the other job today, I then have days' off but working Saturday morning.

I went to fat club and lost a pound and a half, so going in the right direction, just a bit slow for my liking but as I don't want to lose that much I think it's going to be a slow process, but a pound a week is a nice steady loss, so need to stay locused.

    Keep safe and well x

Thanks Holly, the appointment went pretty well but we still don't know if Steve will be treated. They are having a team meeting to discuss their patients today and his case will be discussed. The meeting includes consultants from Addenbrookes as well as Bedford so that is quite reassuring. The consultant said his feeling was that they wouldn't treat at the moment. He is also sending Steve for a biopsy on his neck lumps to make sure there isn't anything else going on with those.

So, we now have to get on with life as normally as possible - starting today I must give the house more than a cat's lick and a promise.

Another bright day, another load of washing! I didn't clean the living room last night, spent the evening in the garden again. I cut the grass last Friday and did it again yesterday, I think it's making up for not growing during the hot weather. Also took down the hanging baskets and sweet peas, they were still flowering but had fallen off the trellis and looked quite messy.

I have a chap coming today to start the roughcast on the back of the house, will be glad when that's done before the winter, just need to find someone to do the other garden work now - RR, send your men!

Hugs to you snoozer, a worrying time for you.
    Hope you're OK TA.
Your spa trip sounded good Nelski, shame you've had to get up so early today.

Right, off to work to see if the systems are working today, we had a major crash yesterday so couldn't do much. Happy Wednesday, take care. XX

    Good morning.

The fog yesterday burnt off to give a lovely sunny day. Before I left for work I did a small wash load and got it out on the whirly. The meetings weren't too bad after all so the day was fine.

Today I'm heading to to DM's, it's a day early because I would just be hanging about today and may as well do that with mum. The friend who rings her every evening is away on holiday so she probably hasn't spoken to anyone since Sunday. Can't bear the thought of it!

My insurance company has given the go-ahead for the repairs so that's booked in for next Thursday and a replacement car organised. Can't complain about the service.

    Hugs all round. Happy Wednesday.
  • Good Morning chums and a grey looking morning out there at the moment, glad you liked them Nelski :)I too agreed the magnet was appropriate :)although I was looking for either a gin or prosecco one :)

Came forth in quiz last night so no win,but nice to be back and lots of laughter was abounding.

Pottering morning this morning, then off to youngest DDs and will see DGS Jack and make sure all his stuff is sorted for next week when he goes off to Uni .

Hope all is well with Mr & Mrs TA and all of our other poorly friends

Mid week already where is the time flying to

    Cheers chums

    Morning all

Dull here again but its been very warm during the days at the moment and gets chilly in the evenings.

Patio men have finished a day early it looks so lovely and they have worked so hard (Camelot I shall send them up to you :D )
They just need to re-connect the outside pipe to my WM so that I can do some washing, which they have promised to nip in and do today. Our outside space is lovely now and much more useable and low maintenance for us, I love it.

Dinner tonight is either chicken curry or scampi and chips if the chicken has not defrosted in time, either way will be nice.

Spoke to the cleaner yesterday and she is coming every Friday for two hours and will do what she can in that time, Ive told her not to do dd's room for instance as there is no one using it, we will see how it goes.

    Hugs to all in need

TA hope all is ok xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning everyone,

    Cooler morning today.

Super quick post. Back is feeling a bit better, albeit a sharp pain in my abdomen this morning, probably unrelated to my back pain. Work today, busy again, followed by a hair cut in the city centre at 6.20. Also need to visit a SM en route home too.

Had a call from a recruitment company yesterday who wanted to put me forward for a position in Manchester. CV was sent yesterday, so we'll see what comes of it.

    Right. Need to dash.

I hope everyone has a lovely day.
