Hi,
A friend of mine is currently re-aligning their finances and we have worked out the AA Premier Direct Current account should really help at the moment (as per Martin's 'best account if you are overdrawn article').
The circumstances are as follows:
She is a polish national who has been UK resident for 3 and 3 months.
For the above time, she has been in employment with the same company.
For the above time, she has been on the electoral register for 2 years 7 months.
Total monthly income is £1100
Just wondering 1) How likely is be accepted for an AA account and 2) What amount of free overdraft facility are they likely to give her? She currently has a 1.5k overdraft with HSBC.
Any advise would really help - many thanks.

From the information you've given, there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason why she might be refused this account. I found A&L to be not very generous when setting overdraft limits, but the minimum overdraft is £250, so you might expect quite a bit more than that if you agree to fund the account with more than double the required monthly funding.0

As far as I'm aware you need to have been a permanent UK resident for 5 years in order to get an A&L Premier Direct Account - they ask for your residential history for the last 5 years and I've known two other people who had been resident here for 2 and 3 years respectively yet both were turned down I'm afraid. The only thing she can do though is apply and see how it goes as you never know and all they can do is say no.

Thanks very much for that. Do Current Accountapplications appear on your credit record like Credit cards do?
Many thanks,0 -

yes they do. comes up as current account or similar. stays on there for a year i think0 -
I applied for AA current account on 2005 and was refused even though I can fund the account £1500 monthly. Instead I went ahead and open an online saver account and start to save to the saving acc.
After 6 month, I re-appplied again and this time the application passed through without a hitch (do it entirely online, no need goto branch for ID etc).0
