Help with Scottish Power

Hi basically need some advice on a debt collector on behalf of Scottish Power. I recently received a letter from Past Due Credit Solutions who say I owed £550 to Scottish Power, I disputed this with Scottish Power, and the Debt collector froze my account, a month later I speak to Past Due Credit who tell me they’ve spoken with Scottish Power I only have to pay £98.70 and my debt will be cleared? So I agree paid the amount, then looked back on the letter and it says there’s an admin fee of £98.70, so I called both companies, Past Due credit say it’s not an admin fee it’s a final bill (even though it’s conventienly The same amount) and Scottish Power said I shouldn’t be in contact with them. Is this fraud? Cos I’ve just paid on admin fee of £98.70 for debt that’s in dispute, Debt collector is now saying my debt is settled and Scottish Power are saying I owe them £290?

What you should have done was ask the debt collectors for a detailed bill of how the original demanded amount was arrived at.

From your description, it reads as though you have paid the collectors' fee and not the bill.

Having said that, did you get confirmation that what you paid settled the Scottish Power demand?

If so, since the collectors were acting on behalf of SP then you should have no more to pay, but you need that confirmation that you paid off SP and the fees combined and not just the collector's fee only.
