Don't forget even with the SD card, she may lose her phone or get it stolen, so backups (to cloud or PC) regularly are still very useful.
Agreed or the card may simply fail, I've had it happen with a few genuine Sandisk and Samsung micro sd cards so I'd never trust them with any data that wasn't also stored elsewhere.0 -
I have an app on my Mac and phone, (no doubt similar is available on PC) whenever my phone comes in wifi contact, eg i get home, it syncs any new photos to the Mac automatically.
That would prevent the "todger incident" being uploaded to a cloud server somewhere though it ought to be possible to have it all encrypted anyway
As said by another poster, having it on a SD card in the phone is little help, the SD card may be slightly more robust in case of accidents like water but lose the phone and the pics are gone just the same.0 -

Anyone know of such an app for our Android phones and a win 10 lPC? I've searched and the only thing I can see is Google Photos but this seems to download the photos to the could. I don't want that. I want to do as AnotherJoe says - automatically download new images on the phone to the PC when in wifi contact.0 -
The app I use is "photosync". https://www.photosync-app.com/
A quick look on their website shows apps for Windows and Android as well as Mac and IOS.
p.s. Its not free, but it works pretty much flawlessly for me.0 -

Thanks. I've just had a look at it - seems good and I see there's a free 7 day trial but I can't see any mention of costs after that. Also what are the in-app purchases?
All I really want is an easy and perhaps automatic copying of my mobiles phone photos to my PC.0 -
I've just had a look since its some time since i started using it so couldn't recall the details.
AFAICS the Apple version is £3.99.
The Android version seems to be free but with "in app purchases" which I'm going to guess will be £3.99(On Apple its not possible to upgrade from a free version to a paid one which is presumably why the Apple one has an upfront charge whilst the Android doesn't)
The PC version (to which the android or Apple app will sync) must be free because when i look at the app on this Mac I'm on now theres no mention of cost or registering or anything. So it looks as if they make their money from the devices that sync and not the "home PC/Mac" the app for which you can download free.0 -
I haven't (or don't) seen it mentioned yet, but what happens when you connect the phone to a computer with a USB cable? Perhaps even waiting for about 10 minutes, to allow the battery to gain some charge and start up.
The first thing I would be weary of is the battery. When they pop, it is usually in flames or a bang. When charging the phone, keep a sharp eye on the battery. If at any point it appears bigger or starts to bulge, unplug the phone straight away and replace the battery.
A warm room and a bowl of rice are your best friends for drying out electronics. Allow 24 hours and don't be afraid to submerge the components completely in the rice. After 24 hours, get rid of all the rice before testing.
There is a likely chance the screen is damaged, so when you plug the phone in you might not see anything. This is why I asked if you had tried plugging into a computer earlier. You may need to replace the screen, but I wouldn't bother if you can get the files on your computer.0 -

Thanks for that. Actually, this happened a few months ago. I've taken the phone apart and I see lots of little rust stains around what seems to be perforated shields fitted over chips. Probably to stop interference. The phone is now bone dry. I wish I'd had this little screwdriver set then and I could have taken it apart and got it dry really quickly.
Connecting to the charger doesn't do anything. In fact I'm getting really odd readings between the poss and neg pins connected to the battery, with the charger on. One minute its 0.09v, then I play around with the charger and connection and its reading becomes 2.34v with the voltage dancing around all the time. Maybe the charger socket has become corroded. I might try charging the battery separately.
I'm just poking and hoping really.0 -
