If you withdrew from the course did you not have to repay the loan?0

It's certainly better if the information about the student loan comes from you rather than them finding out and then chasing you. Tell them as soon as possible.0

Maybe give the Samaritans a call as you're feeling this way. https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us
I know you're worrying about the UC overpayment but as long as you report the SL then the most that can happen is that you'll have to repay the overpayment. Nothing will happen overnight while you wait for your CAB appointment. I'm sure they will help you once you tell them what's happened.0 -
If you can't make the call yourself then there's nothing you can do until you speak to your local CAB and they can help you further. You say it was 2 years ago that you claimed the SL and just before that claimed UC, another 12 hours or so isn't going to make much difference.0

It might not be as bad as you think, as the student loan income will be taken over the term of the course, theres also a £110 a month allowance for student costs, so thats £550 of the loan amount disregarded.Always on the hunt for a bargain0

I would be astonished if they would prosecute over a sum that small. And you don't know that you would be fined either. If cab want to help please let them. And if you think you are in the wrong category ask for a uc50 form to be sent to you. It's just a matter of sending one message to the service centre. You said you wanted someone to advocate on your behalf and cab have offered so let them help.0

Listen. I know UC is tough. I'm on it myself and it is not easy. But this is not something that can't be fixed. I would assume that you might have to have an interview with a compliance officer, but if you have support use it. You can take someone with you. You are volunteering to tell them about this issue before they find out. As someone else said above it is not a significant sum of money you will probably owe.
You are probably talking about a few months of universal credit that you would have to repay, which they could deduct from your benefit.
I was told I was going to be investigated because I own my home (the money to buy it, which was less than 10k was in my bank for one day). I told the service centre but they forgot to log it. They didn't investigate me in the end.
I was also reported maliciously for benefit fraud which I had not committed. I know its horrible when you think worst case scenario but this is not something that cannot be sorted.0 -
They will take the money from you a small amount at a time, they won't be allowed to leave you with nothing. It won't be a case of you will get no money for months. They should deduct a certain amount from your UC0

when I first claimed as I wa s living with ex partner for 3 months before being kicked and didn't declare his earnings (I don't think that effects anything as I wasn't claiming with him and we had obviously split up, and has no savings or capital) .
If he was your partner at the time and you were living together then you should have been claiming UC as a couple and his earnings should have been included in your UC claim.0 -
He said it was his ex partner, and that they had split up0
