Section 75 - laptop

Hi all

I'm going to query a laptop issue with my credit card company with the view to try and get a fix or refund under Section 75. I believe Tesco want me to get a second opinion on the laptop fault first from another engineer before going down this route. Is this usual? I'm oblivious to the process so advice welcome

  • Are Tesco the retailer or the card company? Or both?

Your right will depend on the circumstances - for example, how long you have had the laptop, warranty, distance selling etc.

    They're just the bank
  • So your first port of call should be the retailer, that's who your consumer rights are with. Who was it and have you contacted them?

Far to much missing info. If the laptop is over 6 months old then it's down to you to prove the fault is the result of an inherent fault.

This isn't an easy thing to prove. S75 have the same rights as the retailer so they can also demand this report before they need to do anything.

I assume it's out of warranty, but without info it's all just guess work.
