Hertz Rental Charge
Hi all,
I recently rented a car from Hertz in Italy. At the time, I didn't pay for extra insurance and hence they required to hold a total of €700 from my bank account in case of damage (which was fine by me). Upon return of the car, I didn't have time to refuel the car so was happy to pay for that and they told me they would deduct that from my deposit. When I returned the car I also noticed that there was a scrape on the back bumper, not very deep but still noticeable (albeit I'm positive that wasn't my fault). They didn't perform any checks on the car at that time though. Having read all the horror stories online about people being overcharged for small scratches/scrapes I was expecting to be harassed about this but I just saw the receipt from Hertz online and it only highlights the fuel charge which they have billed me. I've also been deducted from my bank account the amount for the fuel only.
1) Do car rentals usually add damage claims to the normal car rental receipt or is it usually billed separately?
2) If they have made one deduction from the €700 hold deposit, can they make a 2nd deduction at a later time or is that not possible?
