There's a space on the prescribed info form for details of the circumstances when the landlord may retain part or all of the deposit.
That has been filled in saying see clause XXX which in turn says:
"The Deposit is held as security for the performance of the Tenant's obligations under this agreement and to compensate the Landlord for any breach of those obligations."
And that, of course, does not inform the tenant one bit.
This part of the process seems a complete waste of time. Clearly, there are myriad ways the tenant can breach the tenancy agreement and lose the deposit. So, it seems a bit daft for the form to require some sort of potted summary to be inserted in a small box, and it is hardly surprising that it is filled in as generally as possible.
What did our dear leaders think they would achieve by this?
