Old Style Dailty Tuesday 4th Spetember 2014

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

I’ve decided that I’m going to have a day not doing too much. I’m up to date on housework and washing so want to have a bit of me time. I thought I would potter about a bit this morning and then take myself off for lunch somewhere and then decide what I want to do afterwards.

The schools go back on Wednesday, so if the weather is good I want to go to the coast for the day. I would like to try and make the most of any decent weather we get because we will soon be into winter and I certainly won’t be going to the coast.

Someone I haven’t seen for over a year because they moved away from the area is visiting for a few days and is calling in this evening. I’m looking forward to seeing her and having a good catch up on what she has been up to and how her new life in Germany is going.

It is great that you are getting to spend time with DS1 and your DGC Camelot.

Redruby I hope that your first day in your new role went well, and that you enjoyed it.

Nelski I hope that you had a lovely relaxing spa day.

Glad you are getting on with Humax box Silver-Oldie, it will be a good saving instead of a subscription service. I hope that you managed to make the most of this good weather and get out for the day.

Gers eating four pieces of shortbread as a response to stress sounds fine to me. Exactly the sort of thing that I would do, and shortbread is so worth it.

Enjoy your coffee morning and quiz this evening JackieO.

Hope the TAs are doing ok.

I hope that you all have a good day.
  • Morning all and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.

I have had a lie in until 5.45, I went to bed quite early but couldn't get to sleep until midnight. But that's a pretty decent sleep for me.

No massively interesting plans for today, at some point I need to go shopping for a gift for my friend's daughter but that's about it really. I don't have to do that today.

Sending positive thoughts to all those who are unwell or worried and I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

    Morning All

Hoping for another dry day, the washing is out, didn't get round to changing the bed at the weekend so that's done now. Got loads of housework done last night, the living room will be done tonight.

    Enjoy your new job RR!
Have a good day doing nothing Holly, sounds good.
Hope things are going well TA.

Swimming, work and housework today - at least I've been sleeping well, probably worn out!

I've ordered a spare wheel for my car, first time I've never had one and it should arrive today, having it delivered to DDs as she should be in.

    Enjoy Tuesday, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone.

There's thick fog / sea fret outside, can't see the sea, can hardly see the cows in the field. Perhaps it'll burn off soon.

My mini-meltdown Monday is over, thank goodness. Only three students turned up for the session, I'd prefer fewer students who are committed than more who CBA.

Today I've got to go to a four hour student induction session, well there's actually two on the go at the same time so I'll be popping around between two rooms. Won't matter which as it'll all be fairly dull. :rotfl:

Thinking of all the poorlies and carers. I hope that we all have a happy Tuesday.

    Hi Holly, AOD and Camelot.

We're up early, I woke and Steve was gone - I think he was fretting about his appointment today. Hopefully, we'll be able to go back for another hour later this morning.

We went into Cambridge yesterday afternoon for a mooch round but didn't get much, it was just a displacement activity really.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dry underfoot here but cloudy and dull, so not sure what will happen with the weather, hopefully sun will put in an appearance as I have a wash load ready to peg out.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, he did come home early yesterday but not too much, but was still moaning and wingeing. DS1 gone to work, DS2 now moving, he's going for a run then will catch a lift with me to go to the gym.

Dinner last night was HM egg and veg fried rice with scampi for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg, yogurt, peach and a banana for dessert. Weight doesn't seem to have moved so not overly happy but I have eaten more carbs this week and altered things about - we'll see what the scales say later.

Work yesterday was manic as we thought it would be, the shop was busy as were the phones, they were ringing off the hooks. We'll see what today brings, my early finish day today.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All.

I have not posted for a few days. My DM did not seem right when I visited last Thurs. She had a fall on Fri morning, but the home said she was fine. My DD went Fri aft and said she was not ok. My DM is now on antibiotics and pain killers and appears she has hurt her side. Not being sent to hospital (hopefully) DR going to treat her at the home.

On Sat I went help my DD pack as my lovely DD and her BF moved 3h away to save for a deposit for a house , moved in with his parents bigger house. First time she has lived away from her home town. She has only ever lived an hour away.

Today I will be going to pack more at DM's house and fill in paperwork for solicitors.

    Properly back at work tomorrow.

    Take care everyone

  • Thanks for starting us off Holly :T. It is nice to catch up with old friends :) and I hope you enjoy your day whatever you do :)

AoD, maybe you are finally managing to change your sleep pattern :T Nice to have a day when plans are fluid :D

Camelot, housework done, washing done - whatever will you find to do:D - cup of tea & a good book perhaps :D

I did get the under sink cupboard cleaned & sorted yesterday :) & the window cleaner not only cleaned the windows but also cleared the gutters ready for the winter:T

Today I have no plans but I do need to get started on my humongous ‘To Do’ list :D & do a bit of birthday card writing - have 6 left to write out & address for November, then need to check December & January’s birthdays. Of course then it is the dreaded “C” cards but at least I won’t have to buy any as I have about a six year supply :rotfl:

So gentle (((hugs))) for the poorlies & the carers of poorlies & more robust hugs for all those who want/need them :rotfl:

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible

Morning everyone - had a nice lazy start with my breakfast and laptop in bed. Back to work tomorrow.
Had a nice lunch out with a friend yesterday with lots of chat. It was nice as I never seem to have time to see anyone during term time.
Eldest DD started her internship yesterday and really enjoyed her first day. She was working in the restaurant straight after so a really busy day. Planning on quite a lazy day today - I may go for coffee with my mam and dad this morning and then I have a Tesco shop getting delivered. This afternoon I'll read my Sunday Times - I know, it's Tuesday!
