I'm always puzzled by the number of people who think joining a pension scheme 'isn't worth it' if they only plan to be with their employer for short time and/or work less than full time.

I remeber there used to be something called "inital units" where the bulk of your contribution went to the advisor up front.
I don't think this happens any more, but I wonder if front loading is in people's minds.

On this topic it's more likely that cotton wool is in people's minds.

As I've said before, I've yet to see anyone say "because I won't be in this job long I'll refuse to accept the salary".

It is not cotton wool in peoples' minds,it is fog.The pension industry is so damned complex, that many consider it to be run with smoke and mirrors.I find it sad that people come here with honest questions, and they are treated unkindly, just because they lack knowledge of the pensions minefield.

TBH, I am not a maths person, although I am happy with the general basis.

I dont find the ideas of pension and tax relief to be difficult- I find them to be quite simple.

But what do i know as a simple biologist?

People come where with questions which are answered factually, and gennerally very nicely. It can be hrd to be nice to thos who come answereng questions:

They dont ant the answer to

They dont like answers that dont match their own prejudice.

I know this is continuing the off topic aspect but... I think some people do not like, or do not want to like / understand pensions simply because it means going without money that they want today. Tomorrow is, well, a manana problem.
Personal Responsibility - Sad but True :D

Sometimes.... I am like a dog with a bone
