                    Hello,
I bought a tandem pushchair from an online shop and used paypal to pay. It arrived a week ago. When I put it together I noticed that one of the seats is not full sized. This was not specified in the description and as my son is tall, I would not have bought it had I known.
The online shop have stated that it is common knowledge that some tandem pushchairs have one seat smaller than the other and that I can return it but I have to pay the cost to do so.
Is there anything I can do or should I just pay to return it?

Did it show any pictures or give any dimensions?
I've never bought a tandem pushchair so don't know if they are generally different sized seats but if that is the norm then it would be unusual for them to specify what should be obvious, they'd only advertise it as a selling point if it was different.
If they haven't actually misadvertised it but you just didn't research it properly then providing they have met certain legal obligations then they are correct that it is a change of mind return and you are liable to bare the cost of that.0 -
            Thank you for replying.
There was a photo but it isn't obvious from it. No seat dimensions were given. It just said two seats capable of taking a weight of 15kgs each.
I've had a look at other tandem pushchairs and I could only find two that had one seat smaller than the other.0 -

If they've actually said this, you could use that against them. If they know that some have one seat smaller than the other, they should have made clear in the listing that this was one of those types.
I'd say they should pay for return postage if they didn't make it clear in the listing - it's not your job to go researching to find out what they haven't said, it's for them to make the listing clear to ensure you're buying the correct item for your needs.
Seems reasonable to me to expect two seats that take the same weight to be of the same size.0 -
Are both your children 15kg or lighter? It seems to me that they are selling it on the basis of the seats’ weight capacity and since both seats can hold the same maximum weight, they’re fit for purpose. I think you’ll have to pay to return it.0

Are you sure? I've never bought a pushchair, but I would immediately assume that two seats would be the same size. If it said "One takes 15kg and one take 10kg" then it'd be fair to assume one might be smaller.
Are tandem ones not largely designed for twins? How many people have twins that are two different sizes?0 -

Probably why you're confusing double with tandem.0 -

Tandem pushchairs are designed for two different aged children, so a toddler and a baby rather than twins.
This doesn't appear to be an issue with the pushchair being able to support her older child's weight, it's an issue of her older child being tall for his age and being physically too big rather than too heavy.0 -

Sorry OP, ignore me. A quick Google does seem to confirm tandem and twin pushchairs are two different things and tandem is often for two children of different ages (according to Mothercare's website).0 -

No with the lack of information then due diligence should be used.If they've actually said this, you could use that against them. If they know that some have one seat smaller than the other, they should have made clear in the listing that this was one of those types.

You go online to save going to the high street, you get to inspect it the same way you would in a shop. The op did this, it's not right so they can return it, the cost for this at home shopping experience is having to pay return costs.
You can't have it all ways, better research when shopping online would solve these problems. It was bought blindly without asking any relevant questions so tough luck.0 -
            Thanks for all the replies.
Just to clarify - I didn't buy this pushchair online to save myself going to the high street. It was a web exclusive product and not available to look at at any shop.
It did not occur to me that one seat would be smaller so I didn't know to ask the question.0
