OFGEM Thank you
Just to let you all know that OFGEM closed Iressa Limited down on the 27/07/2018. Ofgem then put all the customers out to tender for some other Utility to take them on and decided to send me to another utility to which I have worked out using my Iressa Units and the new utilities unit price for gas and Electricity. I will need to pay an additional £350+ over the next 10 months if I need to stay with my new Ofgem provider. Whats more annoying is that I can move if I wish to but there isn't any cheaper providers out there. Iressa had its licence removed for not dealing with customer queries allegedly but they never took money off customers as like others have done,
Thanks robbed and BROKEN
PS. I was able to use the MSE energy club to get the unit price of gas and electricity without having to sign up to any new utilities (as compare websites don't give you them,(I believe they are driving up prices) so I could work out future costs and still all more expensive than Iressa Limited.:

They moved all Iresa Energy customers to Octopus Energy which is nt the cheapest in the UK but not everyone go s for the rock bottom prices. No robbery involved at all. You only have to stay with Octopus for a few weeks
. I have advised three friends of mine who switched to Iresa, the cheapest in the UK at the time and are now in the process of moving to Eversmart Energy who came out the cheapest for them in the UK for dual fuel.
Prices have risen for nearly everyone this year. I m sure Iresa , had they survived , would have raised their prices.
One of them is actually paying a little less per month with Eversmart than they were with Iresa due to slightly lower kwh usage. Octopus is refunding the £150 credit she is due
Watch out for comp sites who only show variable tariff fixed yearly deals with Eversmart. They do offer the exact same low tariffs on a fixed year direct from their website

I've gone to Eversmart and their annual cost for my 7200kwh of leccy works out not much different to what I was paying with IRESA (actually it's £12.89 LESS saving me £1 a month).

I've had to put up with about six weeks worth of Octopus who have probably cost me around an extra £5 at this time of the year. I'm just glad that I didn't end up with them in January when the six weeks with the Octopus tariff would have added around £25 to my bill.

May I suggest that instead of having a whinge, you get onto the comparison sites and get yourself a better deal before they all go up again

Use this https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/ to search using your annual kwh forcast which should still be available from Iresa (log in to Iresa, click usage and scroll down for estimated annual usage).

After searching using the above link click for more info and it will show a comparison of old and new suppliers unit costs and standing charge.
There's only one s in Iresa.

You cannot possibly be facing a £350 increase in annual costs unless your usage is enormous: please post your annual kWh consumption. There are many cheaper providers than Octopus.
Ofgem did not 'shut Iresa down'. They restricted them from taking on new customers, and rightly so.
Iresa presumably ceased trading because their cashflow ran out and they became insolvent.

Ofgem didn't close Iresa down, Iresa ceased trading reportedly due to cash flow problems and an inability to find anyone willing to buy the company - see article below:
