Voluntary Termination - advice to make it easy

A lot of the threads on this are either about trying to get out due to excess mileage or go off at a tangent because someone misunderstands PCP/HP. I'm after some advice to make my VT go easily.
I'm doing it as there is no financial benefit to continue, car worth less than trade in, I started with no deposit and set the whole thing up as an alternative to leasing with the bonus of being able to exit early.
Car is under for mileage pro-rata (relevant or not), in perfect working condition and very good appearance. But I still want to minimise any unnecessary spend. I'm going to get the alloys spruced up.
Questions:
1. Tax and Insurance. Tax I don't really care, but insuring 2 cars at the same time, and only 2 months from my renewal, is a faff. Am I obliged to insure/tax or can I SORN and leave on my drive?
2. Am I in for a battle on 'invisible' chips or are the vehicle inspectors pragmatic. The bonnet has small stone chips, on a black bonnet they'll be a few if you look close.
3. There is a recent stone chip on the windscreen. At smaller than a match head and out of the main view, it wouldn't be covered by my insurer for a cheap resin fill. What I don't want is a £1000 bill for a new windscreen. Looking at it, I'm not sure there is a fillable gap in the outer glass layer, it looks more like a crack on the inner surface of the outer layer.

You can SORN it but can you afford to take the full hit if it's stolen and you have no insurance for it. The finance company will want their money for it.
2. Am I in for a battle on 'invisible' chips or are the vehicle inspectors pragmatic. The bonnet has small stone chips, on a black bonnet they'll be a few if you look close. Search google for the BVRLA fair wear and tear guide.

Get firm answers on this is not easy. A lot of the sales guys in the dealers have conflicting experiences. Audi Finance are not unbiased.
In the end, I found an Audi version of fair wear and tear which shows considerably worse damage than the odd stone chip.
Decided to keep tax and insurance as Audi happy for me to drive it until collection. The people on the Audi Finance phone lines have been the most helpful in terms of advice. Despite most online help being for over mileage or early exit before the 50% point, it seems at least with Audi the VT route is quite popular as the main route to switch to the next PCP (I'm not).0
