Fear not, for it is not a scam!
Tell them you do not want to auto renew.0 -
it is common on this forum for posts with "Spam" / "rip-off" in the title to be wrong
This is not a scam and they provide information on the website with what you need to do

Auto-renew scam!
You forgot to mention what the scam is? (as is typical with most scam threads)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Many thanks, i have contacted the company to inform them i don't want to auto-renew and they have confirmed it to me by email as proof.
I understand it's not illegal but why should you have to wait until you have purchased to cancel auto-renew, i think you should have the option to opt out before purchasing.Enjoy everyday like it's your last!0 -

I dis-like the word scam in this context, but I do agree with the principle he talks about, I find AXA always wants to auto-renew I've been caught out before as there seems to be no way to opt-out via the web-interface, so you need to e-mail.
Was also caught out by Home Protect in the same manner, they autorenewed me, I got around a 60% saving by phoning up asking for a cancel / refund and going elsewhere.
They clearly rely on customer inertia, but to do this, they need to store the details. It's a bit of a racket as in my view the card details should only be used for the transaction at the time, not retained for another charge the company hopes to make 12 months later.0
