A&L are an independent bank (former BS) and are not owned or operated by Barlcays. The only link between the two that I am aware of is that A&L's online share trading service (ShareSafe) is provided by Barlcays Stockbrokers.

The reason i ask is that i have opened an e-saver account with Bradford and Bingley. I sent them a cheque for £2000 from my A&L account but they say that they have not received it, despite the £2000 disapearing from my A&L acoount.
Bradford and Bingley have asked for a copy of the cheque that i sent to them and i got that today. On the rear of the cheque it states that the cheque has been returned unpaid to Barclays DDS.
Any ideas?0
